Myth #3 you can worry yourself to death
Actually, the opposite is true.........The study revealed that the best predictor of longevity in children was conscientiousness--being prudent, well organized, even somewhat obsessive. The same was true later in life. Adults who were thrify, persistent, detail-oriented, and responsible lived the longest. One of the most obvious explanations is that conscientious people do more to protect their health----for example, wearing seat belts or following doctors' orders, and engage in fewer risky activities like; smoking, drinking to excess, abusing drugs or driving too fast. They tend to be sensible in how far to 'push the envelope'. Those with this trait have a tendency to be in happier marriages, better friendships, and healthier work situations. So, according to the study, conscientious people create long-life pathways for themselves. You are not locked into or out of it, you may become conscientious if you choose. Share your thoughts..

  1. Worrying and being alert are good traits that help people live longer. People with these traits think before they act, which leads to less incidents and problems. However, worrying too much is not a good thing either. Constant worrying makes your brain unable to rest, which can lead to stress. So a little worrying is good. But obsessive worrying is a major threat to a person's health.

  2. If you are conscientious, you will protect your health by not engaging in life-threatening situations. This involves unhealthy substances, such as smoking. Having good health will help you to live longer.

  3. I do believe being conscientious does have a positive effect on one's health. Although, being conscience and being worried are similar, they mean different things. The way it is used in this myth, it is true. If one worries and gets stressed, it can cause health issues.

  4. I can understand how people who worry would be more cautious in their life and avoid risks, but I also think that those who worry too much and those that are obsessive, generally put too much unnecessary stress in their lives which lowers their happiness, which is directly related to health.

  5. I've never thought about that, that myth is really interesting. I always figured it was the opposite becasuse of the worrying can cause so much stress on a person, and stress is not good for ones health.

  6. There are a lot of things in life that are risky but in the end were worth doing but it also goes the other way thats why moderation is good.

  7. I agree with this article. Worrying leads people to take better precautions.

  8. One needs a healthy balance of stress in life. With no deadlines, nothing would ever get done, and deadlines are a major stressor in life along with every day situations. However, one cannot stress too much or else suffer mental and physical unhealthiness, which is never good.

  9. I guess that would be true, but not if you take it to far. If you overthink everything I can't figure that the worrying you would be doing would be healthy for you.

  10. If you pay attention to details like this, it makes sense that you would pay attention to small details about your health as well. This will keep you healthy because you are consciously aware of what is going on with your body. However, I think that too much worrying is bad and can be very stressful.

  11. Depending on the type of stress, stress can be a good or bad thing. Eustress is a shirt term type of stree that motivates you to do stronger, better work. It is a positive stress that we all need in our lives to be able to feel excited, or motivated to achieve a certain goal. Distress however is a negative stress that can be long or short term, it pervokes axniety and makes you feel worried, it does not enhance our work and can be very harmful to the human body mentally and physically. Like anything in life stress is good with balance.

  12. I believe that being conscientious is a good trait, but worrying to the point of causing yourself extra stress is not healthy. I feel that staying organized and sensible regarding choices you make in your life is very important. Hopefully, this will actually help reduce your stress. I think that you must maintain a balance between being conscientious and organized without becomeing obsessed and overly stressed.

  13. Interesting. But it makes sense that those who are more careful in life avoid the big risks like not wearing their seatbelts. This also means that they don't as many chances, however. And in my point of view, taking care of your relationship is one thing. Staying married when you're not happy is another.

  14. this myth does some what make a valid point. people who do worry more than others are a lot safer in their everyday lives, such as wearing a seat belt. Most people don't think twice about their seat belt. but the people who worry about things like this could have less chances of having a freak accident.
