I'd like to share with you how writing this blog has changed and improved my health. First, I felt I couldn't/wouldn't write and talk about health and fitness if I didn't truly become a participant myself. When I was younger, much younger, I was an athlete. I played softball, tennis and volleyball. But, in the beginning, I did share with you I've never been a huge fan of exercise! I'd go for the occasional walk, but nothing major. Intellectually I knew/know I must exercise to keep this middle aged body functioning and moving. but that didn't/doesn't mean I want to and so I didn't........

That brings me to the blog.....I am happy to say because of you, teaching the P.E. class at Parkview, and my love of reading about health (oh yeah, I'd always been an avid reader of health, just lately hadn't been an active participant ) my thought process changed dramatically, and I might add for the better. September brought me to the YMCA and taking a Cardio kick boxing class 2 nights a week, I resumed walking 2 miles 2-3 days a week, and teaching PE helps keep me active here at Parkview. I've changed my eating habits (I can eat junk food just like the rest of you!) and have seen a change on the scale! YEAH!!
One of the reasons I share this with you is so you know that we are never too old to begin again, change our ways or start a new exercise routine. And also, to share with you that you were all the changing agent for me! So for that I THANK YOU!
This week I'd like you to share how, if at all, you've changed your exercise routine, if you've lost/gained weight (it could be muscle weight) and how your overall health has improved since the beginning of our blogs. If your overall change has been positive, BRAVO!, if not, what changes are you planning to implement to improve your health?

  1. I haven't changed my exercise routine very much. I try and maintain my current plans by exercising frequently, eating healthfully, and getting good amounts of rest. I would say that my plan seems to be working in a positive way.

  2. I have increased my exercise program this year, and have seen a difference. I feel I have more energy, and even though I am slim I can see some muscle definition. I also seem to feel better physically with the increase in exercise. Especially since heart disease runs in my family, I feel a greater need to stay active and eat well. I do think that exercise is important to your overall physical and mental health.

  3. This blog has helped me to become more motivated to exercise. I have started up again with my exercise routine. I have lost some weight, but I have also been gaining muscle. Unfortunately, almost everyone in my family is overweight. So I am thankful that this blog has helped get back to my routine, so hopefully I can prevent this from happening to me.

  7. I have not seen any drastic change since the beginning. I need to find ways to get more motivated, and as I continue reading it gets me a little bit more in the right mindset. I hope to see an improve by the end of the year.

  8. I wouldn't say I've worked out any more or less this year than last. But even though I won't be taking PE next year, I'd like to try and stay active none the less.

  9. I usually try to maintain a mostly healthy diet, which has become harder after acquiring a job and a drivers license. Though no change on the scale has happened, I will try to exercise more frequently and lessen my lunch trips to Del Taco.

  10. My exercise routine hasen't changed much. Overall, my main goal is not to gain weight. If i happen to lose weight then thats great but just being consistant and maintaning my weight and my exercise routine is working out just fine for me.

  11. in the last months of the school year i have changed my workout routine quite a bit. After the hockey season i began going to the gym and working out a lot harder than i was during the season. this is because during the season i just needed to stay strong, but now that its over i can really push my workout and i have gained some weight in the last few weeks.

  12. @Mrs. D. Thank you for sharing your experience. It's nice to know that we have helped you, as you have helped us. :)

I haven't really changed my exercise routine over the course of the year, but I have noticed a change. I have gained greater endurance, which I am very happy with. I can walk farther and longer with greater ease than when I started. So can my dogs! So it has worked out well for all of us. This summer however, my exercise routine will change because I will be able to swim in our new pool, which is exciting! I also hope that this summer I can go fishing and go to the shooting range, both of which involve more exercise than most people think. I'm excited for the summer and continuing exercising!

  15. I know I need to do more exercize routines. I did start riding bikes at the Vans Skate Park. It is a hard workout- we ride for almost three hours. It is intense. I will get to the gym more- like LA Boxing.
